Kamal Haasan moves High Court amid Kannadigas' outrage - surrenders to the law for the release of Thug Life!

Tamil actor Kamal Haasan has approached the Karnataka High Court directly for the release of his new film Thuglife, amid massive protests in Karnataka over his controversial language remarks. The statement that "Kannada language is derived from Tamil" has evoked strong reactions from Kannadigas and he has refused to apologise.
Amid this controversy, efforts are on to stall the release of Thuglife. Kamal Haasan has filed a petition in the High Court seeking security for the release and screening of his film in the wake of some pro-Kannada organisations demanding a ban on the film.
The petition was filed by his brother and CEO of Rajakamal Film International, which is expected to release across the country on June 5. He has sought directions to the government, the state director general of police and the Bengaluru police commissioner.
The petition is now at the discretionary stage and everyone is waiting for the court's verdict. Kamal Haasan is busy promoting the film in Dubai and Singapore.
