"Do you need security for your mistake?" – High Court slams Kamal Haasan

The controversy arising out of Tamil actor Kamal Haasan's controversial language remarks has now reached the legal stage, with the release of his film Thuglife being disrupted in Karnataka. Kamal Haasan, who had approached the High Court seeking police protection for the release of the film without apologising for his remarks on Kannada, has come under severe criticism from the court.
In a hearing held on June 3, Karnataka High Court Judge M. A single-judge bench headed by Justice Nagaprasanna asked Haasan's lawyer Dhyan Chinnappa, "Should the police provide security for your mistake?" Moreover, the court threw questions in a serious tone with observations that "it is not fair for those who have made a film for commercial purposes to ask for security without apologising for their mistake". "Don't ride on someone's emotions. There is no problem if you apologize. Otherwise, let the film be released!"
Meanwhile, the court also noted that Kamal Haasan has not denied his statement. His statement suggested that Shivarajkumar was also unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. The court gave time till 2:30 pm and asked Kamal Haasan's lawyer to clarify his stand. Now there is an expectation of excitement for the verdict in the case across the state.
