Actor Darshan, who was arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, is again in jail. Photos of him drinking coffee inside the jail, smoking cigarettes, and talking on video calls went viral, putting pressure on the jail authorities. Following this, nine jail staff were suspended.

After his arrest in 2024, the allegation of "special privilege" against Darshan had tarnished the image of the prison department. If this has embarrassed the government, darshan's move now is a step to cool down the controversy. Senior jail officials will take a decision on Darshan's transfer in the next two days. The move will come into effect with the permission of the court.
