The Cofeposa Act has been invoked against Ranya Rao and other accused Tarun Kondaraj and Sahil Jain. As per the investigation, it has been revealed that Ranyarao had smuggled around 100 kg of gold from abroad. What is coffeeposa? Kafiposa stands for "Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act". The Act is enacted to prevent smuggling. Once the law comes into force, the accused will not get bail and will have to spend at least one year in jail. The Act is implemented by the Central Bureau of Economic Intelligence (CEIB) and its basic information is provided by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). In this case too, Kafiposa has been invoked on the basis of the report of the DRI investigation. With this, Ranya Rao and others have been forced to stay in jail for at least a year.
