Supreme Court promises protection for 'Thug Life' release

Kamal Haasan-starrer Tamil film 'ThugLife' is now in the throes of controversy, but with the assurance of the state government, it has got the green signal for release. The Supreme Court has allowed the release of the film in Karnataka and now the state government has filed an affidavit in the court stating that it will give full protection to the screening of the film.

The right to release a film is part of the Constitution, the Supreme Court's justices Manmohan and Justice J. Justice Bhuyan's bench delivered a landmark judgment on the protection of the rights of theatres, audiences and freedom of expression. The bench is of the clear view that the screening of the film cannot be allowed to be stopped just because people will protest.

As stated by the Karnataka government in its affidavit, there is no official order banning the movie 'Thuglife' in the state. Talks are on between the film chamber and the producers.

In the high court, the producers said they were ready to resolve the issue through talks with the Film Chamber of Commerce. With this, the hurdles in the release of the film are expected to be resolved in time.

Kamal Haasan should apologise for film chamber's demand? The Karnataka Film Chamber has condemned Kamal Haasan's controversial remarks and demanded an apology from him. Addressing this is the main factor for the smooth release of the film.
