Sumalatha Ambareesh opposes amusement park project near KRS

Mandya: Former MP Sumalatha Ambareesh has made her stand clear against the government's move to set up an amusement park near the prestigious Krishnarajasagara (KRS) dam in Mandya.
Condemning the government's move through social media, he said, "KRS is not just a dam; It is history, culture and the lifeline of Mandya," he said.
"Instead of such a wasteful project, priority should be given to the basic development required for the life of the people of Mandya," he said, warning that the project would affect the sanctity and natural sensitivity of the KRS environment.
Earlier, yaduveer Krishnadatta Wodeyar, the scion of the royal family, farmers' organisations and several civil society organisations had also strongly opposed the project. Now, Sumalatha's support will add strength to this fight.
