Ravichandran's wish for Hamsalekha's 'OK' movie; If there is Kannada DNA in the stories, people will watch the film, says Nadabrahma

Hamsalekha is one of the stalwarts of Kannada cinema. Hamsalekha, who has won as a music director and screenwriter, is now donning the director's cap. Hamsalekha has now taken over the director's chair and is all set to direct a film titled 'OK'. The launch and press conference of 'OK' was held at a private hotel in Bengaluru yesterday. Crazy Star Ravichandran was the special guest for hamsalekha.

Speaking on the occasion, Crazy Star Ravichandran said, "I cancelled the shoot today and ran away from Kanakapura for the event. I don't know where to start. You are Raju (Hamsalekha). But it was you who paraded me on screen as a king. If I have excelled on screen, it is because of you and your songs. People say the film is not running. But every week everyone is having a success meet. That's the problem. We started giving in 1986 and it was a success. Not even for a day did we carry success on our shoulders. Because as soon as one film was made, we started another film. I got Hamsalekha from the writing of destiny. There was no calculation in my friendship with Hamsalekha. I don't know the calculations. I only know how to make a film. Even today, if someone asks me what is the profit of Premaloka and Randheera, I don't know. N.S. Rao introduced me to Hamsalekha. Hamsalekha's friendship with me is impure. I didn't put my hand on my shoulder. I'm not sitting in the bar. We just did a film together."

Hamsalekha said, "I met Ravichandran to welcome him to the event. For two-and-a-half hours, we talked about the industry and the happenings. Why are these people not making films like Ramchari, Village Master and Rajahuli?" he asked. Why aren't they doing this? If he loses 10 kgs, he is a good actor. Surashanda actor. A man who is crazy about music. You can make a small picture. But they are going behind this technology and talking pan-India. Our industry has also turned that direction. We have 150-200 directors. They are all doing things. To the laboratory. Not for the kitchen. Cinema is about songs, dialogues and comedy. If this is the case, it tastes good for the audience. A market in the countryside. They grow one as a home crop. Market crop sugarcane. It's just to eat it every day. I have a lot of story with me. But I wanted to do this film. Five years ago, Adip Akhtar had written a story called Cage. I read the story, called him, got him signed and gave him an advance. We need stories and storytellers who are earthy and our films. If that happens, the common audience will enjoy the film industry quickly. If there is Kannada DNA in the stories, people will watch the film. We have decided to treat the biggest movement to bring the audience to the theatres through this film socially, educationally, with love."

Hamsalekha's film has also been launched. CM Siddaramaiah congratulated Hamsalekha for her courage. Hamsalekha is directing a film titled 'OK'. The film will be directed by Hamsalekha and bankrolled by Nagesh Waster and Suryaprakash. The film is produced by Akanksha Productions and Aidani Entertainment. Aidani and Hamsalekha are their own institutions. The artists will be announced in the coming days.
