"We will tie him up, put a cylinder in him and kill him!"; Rajat Kishan's wife receives threat message

Popular Kannada actor Rajat Kishan has unexpectedly been at the centre of a controversy after his recent visit to Dharmasthala. After the meeting, Rajat and his wife Akshita received serious threat messages from some people and akshita lodged an official complaint with the police.

"Rajat had been thinking of going to Dharmasthala with his friends for a long time. He had spoken about this before going to the Bigg Boss show. I couldn't go because of paucity of time. Now that time has passed, coincidentally there was a commotion," he said. Within hours of her visit to Dharmasthala, Akshita started receiving several threatening messages, statuses and phone calls.

The screenshots came from a man named Sharda Bhat. "Take your husband away, or we'll paint him saffron," says Dhamki. "We will pack a sack, put a cylinder and kill us," he said. Akshita has photocopied these messages and collected them as evidence. "The fact that they threaten so boldly on social media makes it clear how much support they have in the past. It is objectionable to unnecessarily drag the issue of Mandya district into this controversy. These statements are not just dhomkis, they are life-threatening."

Though Rajat Kishan initially advised her to ignore the issue, Akshita lodged a complaint with the police as a precautionary measure as the threats hurt her personal, family and regional identity. "More or less by chance but what happens? That is why I have come to lodge a complaint with the police," he said. The incident has once again sparked a debate on the ongoing misuse of social media, hate speech and the culture of intimidation. Now everyone is waiting to see what kind of verdict the law will give in akshita's case.
