The investigation into the much-talked-about TASMAC scam in Tamil Nadu has taken a new turn with the name of noted film actress Kayadu Lohar also appearing under the ED (Enforcement Directorate) probe. A one-night party costs Rs 35 lakh. The actress has been accused of receiving the money. Assam-based actress Kayadu Lohar recently made a name for herself as the heroine of the Tamil blockbuster 'Dragon'. With the success of the film, she got many new offers in Telugu and Tamil films. But now the burden of this scam is falling on them.
Kayadu, who made his acting debut with the 2021 Kannada film 'Mugilpet', has recently acted in six films. Now as per the ED investigation, as part of the TASMAC scam, he paid Rs 35 lakh to attend the party. The information obtained is available. TASMAC – A liquor business management firm in Tamil Nadu was raided by the ED in April after it received a tip-off of serious irregularities in its financial accounts. It is learnt that a person involved in the scam had organised a high-profile party in which Kayadu Lohar had participated.
The matter is also sub-judice in the Supreme Court and the ed's behaviour has come under severe criticism from the judges. "The ED is acting beyond its boundaries," the court said, making the case more sensitive and political. It remains to be seen whether the impact of the case will have any impact on Kayadu Lohar's career.
