"'I didn't know whether to cry or be happy' - Bhavana Ramanna shares the pain of losing her child"

Society has always said that marriage, family and children are the natural paths in a person's life. But times have changed. The number of people who are living without marriage and not wanting to have children is increasing. Yet, the desire for motherhood has taken root in some women and they are turning to IVF to make that dream a reality. Talented Kannada actress Bhavana Ramanna's life has also taken a similar turn.

Bhavana became a mother through IVF. They were expecting twins. But fate is different. Not a single child survived during childbirth. The pain still haunts his mind. "I still can't forget the pain. I am learning to deal with situations in life," he said in an interview to The Times of India.

Everything was smooth until the final ceremony. But then Bhavana started bleeding. It was also difficult to sit for a long time. He was rushed to a nearby hospital as the hospital where he was undergoing treatment was far away. There the doctor warned, "You are sitting on a time bomb."

In the test, the blood supply to one of the children was flowing in reverse. He was underweight. There was a 50 percent drop in heart rate. Bhavana prayed to God but to no avail. The slow drop in the heart rate on the monitor was unbearable for him.

Doctors said a child could not be saved. There was no possibility of completing the pregnancy to save the life of another child. The surgery was performed at the 32nd week. Bhavana gave birth to a baby girl. The surviving child was taken to the NICU.

"Should I cry over the pain of losing a child? Should the other child rejoice in the joy of surviving? I am confused," Bhavana said. "Later I found out that both were girls. The pain of not being able to have a child in my lap will always be with me."

Bhavana is currently back home with her baby girl. "My biggest joy is the child's health. I see it as a gift from God." Bhavana Ramanna's story reminds us that motherhood is not only about joy but also about pain, hardship, patience and courage. Her courage is sure to inspire other women as well.
