New Delhi: As many as 71 eminent personalities were conferred with the country's highest civilian honours at the Padma awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan under the chairmanship of President Draupadi Murmu. The Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards were given to achievers who made invaluable contributions in various fields including art, literature, scientific field, public service, etc.

Noted actor Anant Nag of Karnataka was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution in the field of art. He has been honoured for his loyalty to the Indian film industry, his realistic performance and his ability to play a variety of roles. Similarly, the violin wizard L. Subrahmanyam was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his distinguished service in the field of music. The award recognises his unique style and indelible contributions to the world of music. Music director Ricky Kej was honoured with the Padma Shri award. The Central Government has honoured his efforts in highlighting the Indian shravana heritage to the global stage through this light musical adequacy.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and several Union ministers. Among the padma awardees from various fields were actress Shobana, Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, folk singer Sharada Sinha (posthumously), economist Bibek Debroy (posthumously) and several other dignitaries. The Padma Awards are one of the highest recognitions of respect to Indian citizens and represent the pinnacle of the field of democracy, culture and service.
