Gold smuggling case: Actress Ranya Rao sentenced to one year in prison!

Actress Ranya Rao, who is in deep trouble in a gold smuggling case, is unlikely to be granted bail for a year as she has been booked under COFEPOSA (Foreign Exchange Regulation and Prevention of Smuggling Act).
Ranya has been in jail ever since she was arrested by the DRI on March 3. There are serious allegations of smuggling gold from abroad and misusing the police system.
According to the Act, even if an accused gets bail from any other court, he cannot be released. Now as per the instructions of the COFEPOSA Advisory Board, DRI officials have informed the jail authorities not to grant bail to Ranya. Ranya Rao is now forced to spend a total of one year in jail. This has disappointed him and his fans.
